Lady Wins the Companion Dog Club Competition (Bitches) at London’s Leading Canine Event, Discover Dogs

Lady with her owner, Peter WilsonLady (age 14) from Cockermouth, Cumbria has won the Grand Final for bitches in the Companion Dog Club competition at London’s top Canine Event, Discover Dogs.

Canine behaviourists, trainers and authors Annette Conn and Carolyn Menteith congratulated owner, Peter Wilson and Lady at Earls Court, on Sunday, 12 November for their achievement and presented them with their prize of doggy treats, kindly supplied by PetLondon.

Dogs of all shapes and sizes and backgrounds joined in the fun of the competition and were judged on their relationship with their owner, general behaviour and condition. The competition consisted of the following five categories; Prettiest bitch’/ ‘Handsomest dog’, ‘Waggiest Tail’, ‘Best OAP’, ‘Best Double Act’ and ‘Best Rescue’.

Peter said: ”We’re overwhelmed, this is going to be Lady’s last show so it’s absolutely marvellous.  She couldn’t retire in a better way, as she is retiring from being a PAT dog after 11 years.”

 Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary, said: “Congratulations to everyone who took part.  It’s been a fantastic competition with some real tough decisions for the judges.

The competition really celebrates the wonderful world of dogs and dog ownership.”

It is proving to be a very popular club, with a membership base of 5000 and growing.
