New Guide For Clubs And Societies Published

The Kennel Club has launched a new publication, the Manual for Kennel Club Registered Societies & Clubs, offering detailed and practical guidance to all club officials.

The manual offers advice on every aspect of club administration, from arranging committee meetings, to resolving disputes, to choosing judges and filing annual returns.  Packed with practical examples and helpful hints, the manual is an indispensable guide for all club officials, whether they are just taking up the reins, or are seasoned hands.  The manual also includes examples of agendas and minutes and useful standard letters as well as action plans designed to help clubs put on that perfect show.

The manual is not just aimed at Club Secretaries.  There are tips and advice for all other club officers such as the Chairman, the Treasurer and the Show Manager.

In a smart white binder with tabbed sections, the manual has been designed to allow club officials to add their own notes and example letters so that they can tailor the manual over time into a comprehensive guide to the running of their club.

The current manual contains general information applicable to all clubs but also has a section dedicated to Show Management & Administration of Conformation Shows.

Those involved in other canine activities, such as Agility or Obedience, will find this section useful in general terms, but can be reassured that additional sections specifically covering their events and disciplines are planned.

Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary, explained: “The Kennel Club recognises that club officials work long and hard, dedicating a great deal of time and effort for the good of dogs in this country.  We really appreciate all their hard work and hope this manual will offer some practical help and guidance to support them in their often difficult jobs.”

The Manual is available from the Publications Department of the Kennel Club for £15.00 and is also available via the online shop on the Kennel Club website www.thekennelclub.org.uk.
