Judges at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows are expected to maintain and abide by the highest standards in accordance with Kennel Club Rules and Regulations and appropriate Codes of Best Practice as published from time to time. It is also important to keep a record of your judging appointments, one day you may be invited to award Agility Certificates, an official Judges Record Book can be purchased from our Online Shop.

How to become an agility judge
There is no minimum criteria set out before you can embark on your agility judging career in respect of what you have achieved with your own dogs, except that the organising Society must ensure that anyone invited to judge is competent. All judges must be fully conversant with the Agility (H) Regulations and this can be is also available to download in PDF format free of charge (below) or you may wish to purchase the printed booklet from our Online Shop.

Before you can judge for the first time you must have attained a Kennel Club Agility Regulations and Judging Procedure Seminar and passed the Regulations and Judging Procedure examination. This examination is nothing to fear, it is a multiple choice exam paper and the answers to all the questions will be covered in the preceding seminar.

Societies, individuals or groups can organise a seminar by contacting any of the accredited trainers personally.

How to become a Championship Agility judge.
The Kennel Club is responsible for the approval of Championship Agility Judges, all nominations must be received by the Kennel Club at least 9 months before the appointment using the official nomination form. All first time appointments must be applied for at least 12 months before the show date using the Agility Judge’s questionnaire.

Once you have been judging for a number of years you may be asked to judge a Championship Agility class and award Agility Certificates. If this is the first time you have awarded Agility Certificates it is important to make sure you meet the following criteria:
- a minimum of 5 years experience of competing at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows and,
- a minimum of 5 years experience of judging at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows and,
- to have judged at a minimum of 10 licensed Agility Shows over the previous 3 years and,
- to have judged at Kennel Club licensed events at Intermediate level or above, class size and geographical distribution of judging appointments will be a consideration and,
- to have handled a dog competitively at Intermediate level or above, or
- have been approved to judge the Agility Stakes at Crufts Dog Show or otherwise approved by the General Committee.
