Announcing Accredited Breeder Accolades

An important aspect of the Accredited Breeder Scheme is to provide the Kennel Club with a way to promote breeders that have made a commitment to follow responsible practices as set out by the Scheme.  Many prospective puppy buyers contact the Kennel Club and ask about the basics of finding and buying a puppy.  The Kennel Club will provide these enquirers, free of charge, with a list of all Accredited Breeders in the relevant breed as well as providing access to the Find a Puppy service.  Any breeder may pay to advertise their registered litters on the Find a Puppy service, but Accredited Breeder litters will be flagged and will always appear at the top of the list.

There are currently three accolades that Accredited Breeders may qualify for:

Breeding Breeding Experience Accolade – assigned to breeders who have bred at least five litters.

Breed Club Breed Club Accolade – assigned to breeders who are current members of one or more breed clubs.

Stud Book Stud Book Accolade – assigned to breeders who have bred three or more dogs that are listed in the Kennel Club Stud Book.

Accolades are shown on Accredited Breeder Scheme membership certificates.

In order to qualify for a Breed Club Accolade, an Accredited Breeder should be a member of a breed club for each breed bred.

A further Accolade of Excellence will be available shortly.

Accredited Breeder Accolades appear next to new Accredited Breeder's names published in the Kennel Gazette as well as for each breeder on the lists of Accredited Breeders issued by the Kennel Club.  Accolades also appear within the advertisements on the Find a Puppy service.

All accolades will be assigned by the Kennel Club, according to the information that we have on file, although we will rely on Accredited Breeders to update the relevant information as necessary.
