Selling your puppies
The Kennel Club receives hundreds of enquiries every week for Kennel Club registered puppies. To meet this demand, prospective owners are sent an information pack which includes the contact details of the breeders including Accredited Breeders who are advertising puppies for sale and Breed Club Secretaries. Buyers can also view the information on the Kennel Club Puppy Sales Register
Puppy Sales Register
- When you register a litter of puppies with the Kennel Club you can simultaneously place them on the Puppy Sales Register (PSR).
- In order to place your name on the register please either go to the Online Litter Registration page, and follow the instructions or complete section 9 of the Application for Litter Registration - Form 1 and return it to the Kennel Club as soon as possible, so that potential buyers can make contact sooner rather than later. The register is restricted to breeders who have registered not more than four litters whelped over the preceding 12 months (unless the breeder is an Accredited Breeder). The fee is £15 for this service, which extends to the whole litter, irrespective of the number of puppies. You can also include additional text and your e-mail address for £5. Contact details of Kennel Club Accredited Breeders will be included on the list free of charge where all requirements are met. If your litter has already been registered with the Kennel Club and you wish to now advertise them on the PSR please contact our Registrations Team on 0870 6066 750 quoting the litter number and payment details
- There is no other charge, or commission on sales. This fee covers a period of two months unless your instructions are withdrawn, i.e. suitable homes have been found for the litter.
- Details of the puppies will be entered on the PSR with the Breeder’s name as soon as the litter has been registered by the Kennel Club.
- Enquirers who write or telephone will receive a pack which will include your details. This will also be available from the Kennel Club website and will continue for a period of two months. After this period your details will be removed.
- If you sell the puppies within this period you should telephone the Puppy Sales Line (0870 606 6750) to cancel further advertising.
- In the interests of security, the Kennel Club will not publish your full address on the PSR enquiry report, and therefore it will be necessary for you to provide a contact telephone number. Your litter will not be added to the PSR unless a contact number is provided.
- New owners may be asked to provide feedback on this service.
The Kennel Club reserves the right in its absolute discretion and without giving any reason to refuse any entry for the Puppy Sales Register or to cancel or withdraw any entry without notice.
Other places where you can sell your puppies
Your own website – you can make this as simple or elaborate as you like and this has the added bonus that you can show pictures of your litters and you are not restricted to the amount of information you can give, as you would be if you advertised your puppies in a classified ad. If you are a Kennel Club Accredited Breeder you are allowed to display the Accredited Breeder logo on your website. Please email the Accredited Breeder Scheme Department for a copy of the logo.
Breed Clubs – if you join a Breed Club you can attend breed club shows where you can meet prospective purchasers or the Club Secretary can advise purchasers when you have puppies for sale. Please visit our Breed Standards pages for details of your nearest breed club.
Please remember:
The new owner will need to transfer the Kennel Club Registration Certificate of the purchased puppy into their name. Please ensure you have signed the certificate before they take it away with them to help facilitate this process.
If your puppies are microchipped advise the new owner that they will need to update the ownership details.
