Breed Register

The Kennel Club Breed RegisterIf your dog is registered on the Kennel Club Breed Register, you will gain access to an unparalleled source of information, experience and advice on dog welfare, health, training and breeding. Registering your puppy with the Kennel Club also means that it can take part in many dog shows and dog events throughout the country. From fun days out to serious competitions, these activities are an opportunity to meet other dog owners, learn more about dogs, and simply have a great time.

What to do when you get your Kennel Club registered puppy home:

  • Transfer the ownership of the dog into your own name (you will find this section on the reverse of the registration certificate), ensuring that all parties have signed the relevant sections. Make sure you activate the Kennel Club Healthcare Plan six weeks free insurance offer at this time. You also can do this by ticking the box in Section E on the form and by calling 0870 609 2152. It is vital that you transfer the ownership as soon as possible so that the correct information is recorded on the Kennel Club database. Additionally in order to show or breed from your dog, it must be registered with the Kennel Club in your name.
  • The transfer application form also gives you the opportunity to order additional Kennel Club services on the transfer form including pedigrees, the Breed Records Supplement, Petlog Premium and much more. Discounted enhanced pedigrees can also be ordered at the same time that you apply to transfer the dog into your registered ownership.
  • After you have sent the transfer of ownership form back to the Kennel Club, you will receive a Kennel Club Owner Certificate with your details and those of your puppy printed on it.  An information guide on all the services that will be available to you as the owner of a Kennel Club registered dog will be included with your certificate.

Pedigrees

When you collect your puppy, the breeder may also supply a Kennel Club pedigree certificate.  If not, you can order a range of pedigrees directly from the Kennel Club - it is a unique record detailing your dog's family tree.  Further information on pedigrees.

Petlog Registration

As a new dog owner you should do all you can to ensure that you and your dog are not parted through loss or theft and it is vitally important that you know what to do if the worst happens.  The Kennel Club recommends that you microchip your dog and register it with Petlog Premium.  This unique service provides peace of mind, so if the worst happens and your pet goes missing, Petlog can return it to you in the quickest possible time.
