Celebrating Dogs for the Disabled at the Kennel Club

The Kennel Club Educational Trust is delighted to be supporting the admirable work of Dogs for the Disabled by joining them in a celebration of their work on Thursday 28th July at the Kennel Club Building, Stoneleigh Park.

Dogs for the Disabled is a pioneering charity that trains assistance dogs for children and adults with physical disabilities and families with a child with autism. Dogs for the Disabled has changed the lives of many through tasks as simple as helping to open doors, emptying the washing machine or even picking up the post, they offer independence and life-changing support.

On Thursday 28th July up to 250 of the people who benefit from a partnership with an assistance dog, puppy socialising volunteers and their pups, fundraising volunteers as well as other supporters who work tirelessly to help continue the charity’s work will be welcomed to the Kennel Club Building by the charity. The Kennel Club Educational Trust Team is delighted to be able to provide the Kennel Club Building to support Dogs for the Disabled in their life changing work.

Staff of Dogs for the Disabled will be putting on a fantastic range of activities and workshops for their guests to watch and take part in, including agility and fun canine games, heelwork to music and West Midlands Police dog unit will also be demonstrating how their dogs are trained.

Peter Gorbing, Chief Executive of Dogs for the Disabled, said “This is the first time that we’ve been able to invite all our clients, puppy socialisers and volunteers to one big event to celebrate our work. The Kennel Club Building at Stoneleigh Park will be a perfect dog-friendly space where partnerships and volunteers can meet, chat and share experiences in an informal setting. I’m sure it will be a very inspirational day for everyone involved.”

The Kennel Club Chief Executive and Kennel Club Educational Trust Trustee Rosemary Smart added, “The Kennel Club Educational Trust is thrilled to be able to support this wonderful event reflecting upon the inspiring work Dogs for the Disabled has achieved over the years.”

Please note that this new event is invitation only, but for more information of other events and news, or to donate to this worthy cause, please see the Dogs for the Disabled website, www.dogsforthedisabled.org
