American Cockers rescued by Kennel Club Building
It is every show secretary’s nightmare to be told a month before their show that their venue is letting them down. The American Cocker Spaniel Club of Great Britain was faced with just that and was forced to face the onerous task of finding a venue for their open show on Sunday 12th June or they would have to cancel.
In desperation, club secretary Kevin Arrowsmith telephoned the Kennel Club to see if the Kennel Club Building was available. Fortunately there was a window of opportunity available to accommodate the show to the relief of Mr Arrowsmith. The Kennel Club Educational Trust, which runs the venue, is delighted to be able to step in and offer an emergency replacement.
The American Cocker Spaniel Club of Great Britain is already familiar with the Kennel Club Building as it holds its Championship show there each December. The committee are very pleased with the facilities and extremely grateful that the Kennel Club Educational Trust has come to their rescue.
Praise for the Kennel Club Building
Kevin Arrowsmith said: “The Kennel Club Building is an excellent venue that has everything we require and more. The Kennel Club staff are always very helpful and on hand to answer any questions we may have. We are hoping to move all our shows to the Building and take advantage of sharing the hall with another club.”
The Kennel Club Educational Trust is encouraging smaller clubs and societies to find a ‘partner’ to share with, as it is a very cost effective method of hiring the venue.
The Kennel Club Building has been hugely successful and the Kennel Club is taking bookings up until 2020. Whilst the Kennel Club Building is very busy all year round, June currently has some availability. If any registered societies are looking for a change of scenery or to simply hold a fun doggy event outside in the large grass rings then please contact Carrie Acors on 0844 4633 980 ext 290 or carrie.acors@thekennelclub.org.uk who will be happy to help.
