Scottish Terriers and Standard Poodles make a perfect match at the Kennel Club building

The Kennel Club Educational Trust (KCET) has announced that the Scottish Terrier Club of England has arranged to share the Kennel Club Building East Hall with the Standard Poodle Club on Saturday 2nd July to stage their respective Championship Shows.

Working together

The KCET has had many smaller clubs and societies requesting a ‘partner’ to share with, but finding a suitable date has sometimes been difficult. The KCET has been working hard at encouraging smaller clubs and societies to liaise with one another and to consider the benefits of sharing the Kennel Club Building as it is a very cost effective method of hiring the venue.

For the last two years, City of Birmingham Canine Association has had considerable success in encouraging numerically small breeds to hold their breed club Open Shows at the Kennel Club Building in conjunction with City’s Championship Show. Not only were these smaller shows a great success and enjoyed by all, but the number of entries at City of Birmingham’s Championship Show for these breeds also showed an increase of as much as 60%. There is now a high demand of smaller breeds asking City of Birmingham Canine Association to host them at the Building.

The KCET is delighted to see this successful example of registered societies working with one another for the benefit of dogs and dog shows.

There is plenty of space for two breeds to share the East or West Halls, and sharing the venue provides an ideal opportunity to share catering costs, whether by one of the registered societies carrying this out themselves or by jointly hiring an external caterer, details of which can be provided upon request.
