The Kennel Club Accreditation Scheme for Instructors in Dog Training and Canine Behaviour

Here you will find all the information you need on our first ever KCAI National Member Event!

‘Try Out, Take In and Teach – An Education Weekend for KCAI Members’will take place onSaturday the 26^th and Sunday 27^th of May 2012at the Kennel Club Building, Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire CV8 2LZ.  Over the course of the weekend we will be holding various events for our membership in both halls and conference rooms, offering a choice of subjects which will span the 3 key areas of the Scheme – Section  A - ‘What you Know’, Section B ‘What you Do’ and Section C ‘How you Teach’.  Activities will cater for all levels of experience and knowledge; from those taking the first steps in the world of dog training through to the more experienced of our membership.

The main activities for the weekend will be practical workshop sessions offering new or different ways of teaching companion dog classes.  Over 90% of our Accredited Instructors have opted for Companion Dog Training and nearly all those working towards accreditation are also going for this area. We are also aware that many of our new members are keen to develop their companion dog training skills.

There is still however, plenty on offer for those who wish to explore other areas:  Please see thebooking form below for a full list of activities, workshops and seminars.  You are invited to create a unique educational programme over one or both days to ensure you get exactly what you want from the weekend, receiving printed materials and delegate packs for each area which can act as portfolio evidence and help to increase those all-important scores.  Please note that whilst you have been informed by email, a personal invitation hasalsobeen sent toyou in the post, so keep an eye on your letterbox!

All members will also be invited to enjoy a social evening on Saturday with food, drink and a fun team quiz to really get your brains working!  On top of all of this throughout the weekend there will be mentoring opportunities, raffle games for you and your dog, trade stands, the opportunity to find out more about our related organisations, some fun agility and much more!  The KCAI staff team will also be on hand ready to answer your questions as will staff from the Kennel Club library and gallery – a valuable training resource. 

Tea, coffee lunch AND dinner are included in the ticket price, and workshops will be booked on a first come, first served basis.  Numbers of dog handler spacesare limited in practical sessions but there will also be the opportunity to spectate.  Accommodation details are also provided on the enclosed booking form and there is an option to camp / caravan, if you are travelling from a distance.  Contact the Stoneleigh Park Lodge for more details (contact number available on the booking form).
