Local Kennel Club Accredited Breeder, Emily Mitchell from Kirkley Mill near Ponteland and her dog Logan took away two top prizes at the Three Counties Championship Dog Show this weekend. Logan, a nine month old Longhaired Dachshund, won Best Dog in his breed and also triumphed in the Pup of the Year heat held at the show.

Logan has competed at just six shows so far, but has already won two Best Puppy in Breed prizes, three Best Puppy Dog awards for his breed, and a Reserve Challenge Certificate. Logan’s grandfather is the all-time breed record holder and one of Logan’s sisters is currently competing at dog shows in America.

Emily Mitchell, who owns Logan is from a family of dog show enthusiasts, and shows dogs with her mum, Fran. Fran Mitchell started showing over forty years ago in 1969 and so dog showing was something that Emily was brought up with. Fran is currently showing Logan’s father and a young bitch, whilst Emily is showing Logan and his half sister Annabel.

Proud owner Emily said: “Logan is a handsome boy and a very happy chap. He has lots of character, he is well trained and is renowned for being vocal around the ring when he gets bored of waiting. At home he is very adventurous and playful, often going in the pond or anywhere a bit adventurous.

“We are lucky enough to live near several of Logan’s siblings and we often host social days to allow the puppies to play with each other and the owners can discuss and advise on their development.”

Emily and Fran Mitchell are Kennel Club Accredited Breeders, which means that they agree to have all of the required health tests for their dogs carried out and follow comprehensive guidelines to give them the best chance of breeding happy, healthy puppies.
