Discover Dogs 2011 ' Name the Breeds' Competition Winner

Congratulations to our winner of 'Name the Breeds'  on the Picture Library stand at Discover Dogs.

Nick Horne is our drawn winner who correctly named all the breeds in our competition.

Congratulations Nick, you've won a Kennel Club Illustrated Breeds Standard Book and an  8 x 10 print from our Dog Photographer of the Year competition!

The correct answers were:

  • Bull Terrier
  • Dandie Dinmont Terrier
  • Lancashire Heeler
  • Clumber Spaniel
  • Glen of Imaal Terrier
  • Otter hound

Notice the theme with all these breeds?  Tally ho!  Yes, they are all native British  breeds. All these images came from our online picture library at www.dogimages.org.uk.

Winners and Runner Ups announced for Dog Photographer Of the Year 2011!

Dog Photographer of the Year 2011 Winning Photos

We have had so many amazing entries this year for our annual Dog Photography competition.  It was really tough judging for our celebrity guest judges and it took hours to deliberate over the final few.  Congratulations to our overall winner, Tina Williams with her lovely portrait of her Whippet, Joey.

If you didn’t have a chance to enter this year – consider next year for the following categories:  Portrait, Dogs at Play, Dogs at Work, Man’s Best Friend, Puppies (new category!) and the under 16 category “I Love Dogs Because …”

Continue to snap away this year and we will look forward to seeing more great photos of your dogs.

 

 

 

 



Photography Going to the Dogs – An Exhibition of Vintage Dog Photographs

18 July 2011 – 13 January 2012

The Kennel Club Art Libby Hall Collection / The Kennel Club Picture Library ©Gallery is taking visitors back in time with its compelling exhibition ‘Photography Going to the Dogs.’

Exploring the history of dogs in photography, this unique display showcases a wide range of vintage images depicting man’s best friend from the 1850’s to the 1950’s.

The exhibition was put together with contributions from private collections.

Some of the contributors wish to remain anonymous and we would like to take this opportunity to thank them all of their kindness, generosity and guidance.
