The Kennel Club is delighted to announce that PetStreet is to be its social media partner for London Dog Week and Discover Dogs 2009.

PetStreet's founder, Maurice Melzak, said "I created PetStreet to promote responsible pet ownership and to celebrate the relationship we have with our pets. As a dog owner myself, I am delighted to be joining forces with the Kennel Club in an event which reflects these core values, raises awareness of good dog ownership and reflects the wonderful contribution dogs make to our lives."

PetStreet (www.petstreet.co.uk) is the UK’s leading independent social networking website for pet owners. Designed with pet lovers in mind, half of its 8,000 members either currently own dogs or are looking to own dogs in the future. With news stories, videos, competitions, veterinary advice from Cat the PetStreet vet and much more, petstreet.co.uk is a unique online community for pet owners, united by a love of animals and a commitment to responsible pet ownership.

London Dog Week will take place from 9th – 15th November, culminating with the Discover Dogs show at Earl's Court as the grand finale on the weekend of 14th and 15th November. Throughout this week, PetStreet will have loads of exciting content about the show, including regular competitions to win free tickets, doggy news stories and videos and a special feature on the people and dogs who make Discover Dogs such a great event.

From 31st October to 20th November, PetStreet will be running a very special edition of its Pet Idol photo competition entitled ‘Why My Dog is Special’. With many exciting prizes on offer, this competition is not to be missed - and on Sunday 15th November at Discover Dogs, there will be a special prize awarded by Peter Purves for his favourite entry.
