Heelwork to Music Working Party

The Heelwork to Music Working Party acts as a channel of communication between the Kennel Club and those who compete in Heelwork to Music and Freestyle. Like the  Liaison Councils for Agility, Obedience and Working Trials, the Working Party was set up to represent grass-roots opinion within the Kennel Club, and to promote a better understanding among competitors of how the Kennel Club functions. It has played an essential role in reviewing the regulations for licensed Heelwork to Music competitions and continues to advise the Kennel Club on any regulation changes that may be needed.

Working Party members are always interested in hearing the views and ideas of competitors, and will be seen at many Heelwork to Music shows during the year.

About the Working Party Members

Kath HardmanKath Hardman

I have been involved with HTM since 1996; for the first three years I was a spectator due to heavy work commitments, but I have regularly competed and judged since 1999. In 2002 I was a founder member of Canine Freestyle GB and I became involved in the original Kennel Club Regulations in 2001 when they were issued to all interested parties. Success in competition with all my four dogs has attracted invitations to train and judge overseas which has given me a better insight into other Countries' Rules and Regulations.  Obviously the UK Regulations are still developing as awareness of the sport increases. I have been involved in the HTM Working Party since its inception in June 2005 and in 2007 I was nominated  to become a member of the Activities Sub-Committee (ASC) Judges Working Party to set in motion the Judges training seminars. I am now a Regulations and Judging Procedure Accredited Trainer and I am available on request to conduct training seminars followed by the examination paper. I believe it is of paramount importance and beneficial for everyone involved in HTM to increase their personal awareness, knowledge and understanding of the Regulations.

Highlights of my HTM career -  I was honoured to judge the FS and HTM Competitions at Crufts in 2006 and in 2008 my crossbreed "Spice" won both the Crufts Freestyle and International Freestyle Competitions.
