Kennel Club International Agility Festival Moves Home

The Kennel Club can today announce that its International Agility Festival has found a new base at Kelmarsh Hall, Kelmarsh, Northampton in order to accommodate the ever growing number of competitors and visitors who attend.

The Kennel Club International Agility Festival is one of the world’s largest and most popular dog agility events attracting thousands of competitors from across the world.  The 2009 International Agility Festival will be held on 14th to 16th August 2009 and hopes to beat last year’s record attendance of 2,500 dogs competing, with the total number of entries increasing by 40% on 2007.

The new venue, Kelmarsh Hall, is a graceful 18th century historic house, set in beautiful gardens and surrounded by its own working estate in the rolling Northamptonshire and Leicestershire countryside.  Easily accessible from all parts of the country, Kelmarsh is just 5 miles south of Market Harborough and 11 miles north of Northampton on the Leicestershire/Northamptonshire border.   Despite its rural location Kelmarsh Hall is easily accessible; being located less than a mile from Junction 2 of the A14 and only 15 miles from the M1, Junction 19.  It is situated on the A508 between Market Harborough and Northampton.

Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club spokesperson commented, “We are delighted that the International Agility Festival is moving to the wonderful grounds at Kelmarsh Hall.  The Festival has been growing at such a rapid rate that it was important that we found the right venue to see the Festival continue to develop as the world’s best dog agility event.  The ideal location means that the Festival will be accessible to all UK competitors and is convenient for competitors travelling from Europe and beyond.  It is hoped that the Festival will remain there for many years to come.”

Schedules for the 2009 Festival will be available at Crufts and from the Kennel Club website from that time www.kcagility.org.uk.

The schedule will be very similar to 2008 with graded classes for all heights and grades of dogs but all the ‘Cup’ qualifying classes will be held on Friday 14 August 2009.

Further information can be obtained from Debbie Deuchar, Show Secretary, The Kennel Club, 1- 5 Clarges Street, Piccadilly, London, W1J 8AB.
