Stoneleigh Steps in to the Rescue
The Kennel Club Education Trust’s Building at Stoneleigh Park has stepped in to the rescue of the Bichon Frise Club after the venue for their Championship Show in Slough was double booked.
The Bichon Frise Championship show, which will take place on 23 November 2008, will be the first dog show to be held at Stoneleigh, which will open officially in February 2009.
The venue is already proving to be at the heart of the area’s dog-owning community after Leamington Dog Training Club announced that they will be using the venue to host their classes every Tuesday and Wednesday, over the course of the next year.
The club will be hosting an open evening on Wednesday 17 November, prior to moving the obedience and ring craft classes over to the new venue on Wednesdays from the beginning of January 2009 and the agility classes over to the venue from March 2009.
Paul Gardner, secretary of the Leamington Dog Training Club, said: “We are really looking forward to moving to Stoneleigh. We are currently holding our different classes at a range of venues but this will enable us to move them to one central hub. This will not only make our classes more of a social experience but it means that we can look forward to working in a bigger space as well. We encourage dog owners to come along to the open evening to find out about our new home and to talk to our experienced dog trainers about the kind of activities they can get involved in, with their dog.”
Dawn Russell, secretary of the Bishon Frise Club of Great Britain, added: “We were extremely relieved when we were told that we could hold our event at Stoneleigh, after we were double booked and we are excited to be using such a central venue. We are hoping to increase our entries and are proud to be the first club to be using Stoneleigh for our Championship show.”
Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club spokesperson, said: “We are delighted to see that the Kennel Club’s Stoneleigh building is already operating at full throttle and is becoming such an important part of the dog-owning community.
“We hope that the Bichon Frise Club has a thoroughly successful event and we also look forward to welcoming the Leamington Dog Training Club to Stoneleigh. We hope that dog owners in the local area will get involved with their classes, from obedience that teaches people how to control and look after their dogs, to agility, which is a great way for dog and owner to bond and to have fun together.
“The building’s central location and good access routes make the venue a highly desirable site and we have had a lot of positive feedback since our first open days in the summer.”
There have already been 18 events held at Stoneleigh over 21 days and there are already 48 firm bookings for 2009.
