YKC Member Handles at World Dog Show

For the first time ever, the Young Kennel Club (YKC) is sending a representative to the final of the International Junior Handling competition, which is being held at the World Dog Show on 6 July at Stockholm International Fairs in Älvsjö, Stockholm, Sweden.

The competition is open to eligible members, aged 10 to 17 years old, of the Swedish Kennel Club organisation or a recognised non-Swedish Kennel Club. In addition, the Kennel Club from each country has been invited to send one representative to the final on the last day of the show.  The YKC has chosen 17 year old Amy Balch as the Great Britain representative. Amy has been a member of the YKC for the past four years and won the YKC National Show Handler of the Year in the YKC ring at Crufts 2008 with her Weimaraner, Plymleigh Lady Clementine.

Amy said, “I am so excited to be given this once in a lifetime opportunity. It will definitely be an experience to remember, thanks to the Young Kennel Club. I have thoroughly enjoyed their excellent training days and most memorable summer camp. I have had such a fantastic time and made so many good friends on the way. I would like to express my thanks and appreciation to everyone who has helped me over the last four years to get to this position. I am looking forward to travelling to Sweden and will be proud to represent the YKC at the World Dog Show.”
