Following a recommendation from the Agility Liaison Council, the Kennel Club has appointed additional agility dog measurers.  The new appointments have been made to meet the demand for more qualified measurers.All measurers are fully trained to ensure consistency and fairness and the best possible standards of competition in agility. 

The Kennel Club would like to remind agility competitors that all dogs must be measured before they compete at their first agility show.  Kennel Club Regulations require that a dog be measured twice, with the second measurement carried out between 12 and 24 months after the initial measurement, unless the dog is obviously over 430mm (1ft 5ins), in which case the official measurers can strike out the second measurement in the Agility Record Book.

Dogs must be a minimum of 15 months old before the first official measurement takes place.  However, dogs that are in the official measurers’ opinion, obviously over 430mm (1ft 5ins) prior to reaching 15 months of age can be measured.  The handler must be in possession of a Kennel Club Agility Record Book confirming the dog’s registered name and number, with at least one form of identification, which could be a microchip number, tattoo number or a clear photograph.

Societies or individuals are invited to contact their local Measurers to arrange measuring sessions.  It is recommended that where possible measuring should be held at training clubs or separate measuring sessions.
