Open for Dogs
The Kennel Club sticker campaign to break down barriers for dogs and their owners
Ever tried to take your dog for a walk to pick up some essentials from the shops, only to be faced by the problem of not being allowed to take your dog in?
Restrictions for dog owners on where they can take their dog seem to be an ever increasing daily dilemma, which is why the Kennel Club launched its ‘OPEN FOR DOGS’ sticker and internet campaign, to encourage more businesses to accept dogs.
From cafes, restaurants, libraries and shops to taxis, road recovery companies, offices and more. These are places we all go to, and need to go to, and why should dogs not be allowed to accompany us, as well behaved dog citizens?
To request a dog sticker and to receive a link from our website, email your request to press.office@thekennelclub.org.uk. And if you have visited somewhere that welcomed your dog, then let us know and we can send a sticker directly to them.
Help the UK to be more ‘Open for Dogs’ with the Kennel Club!
The Kennel Club's Open for Dogs competition aims to reward those businesses that are going that extra mile for dogs and dog owners. Customers of all businesses - including pubs, hotels, cafes and visitor attractions - can nominate their favourite dog-friendly venue that might be providing innovative services or simply a bowl of clean water and the promise of a friendly smile. There is even a category where people can even nominate their own office, if they work for a dog-friendly employer! To nominate, click on the link above or below. Have you ever been in the situation where you want to take your dog into the shop, pub or other public place only to be told that it is not welcome? Or do you find that your canine companion is welcome in most of the places that you go? The Kennel Club’s Open for Dogs campaign aims to improve access to more places for dogs and their owners and by filling in the survey you can help us to go even further in improving your experience of being out and about with your dog.
