International Agility Festival 2008 - Classes and Crufts Qualifiers information
Friday 8th, Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th August 2008

There will be classes for all levels and sizes of dogs on both days including the feature classes:
The Kennel Club British Open (Including Crufts Qualifiers)
(Qualifying rounds on Friday with the final on Sunday)
- This class will be open to all dogs eligible for British Grade 6 (Senior) or Grade 7 (Advanced), dogs holding a Masters or Championship Title in the U.S.A, dogs eligible for Irish Kennel Club Premier classes and dogs eligible to enter Grade 3 classes under F.C.I. rules (or equivalent).
- All dogs will complete a jumping and agility course with points gained from each round.
- The top 30 Large dogs, 15 Medium dogs and 15 Small dogs from the cumulative result of both rounds, plus the top 3 dogs based overseas in each height category, will be invited to compete in the Kennel Club British Open Final on Sunday.
Qualification for Crufts
The highest placed dog from 8 Countries (the Home Nations count as one Country) for Large dogs, 4 Countries for Medium dogs and 4 Countries for Small dogs in the Kennel Club British Open will be invited to compete at Crufts 2009. The results will be taken from the Final round, if there are not enough Nations represented in the Final the organisers reserve the right to invite dogs from the cumulative class results.
The Kennel Club Nations Cup (Sunday)
- Two teams from each Country (including England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man), will be invited to compete for the Kennel Club Nations Cup. If there are insufficient numbers from any one country to make up a National Team the organisers may enter a number of ‘Rest of the World’ Teams. The number of ‘Rest of the World’ Teams to be entered will be decided by the organisers.
- If there are insufficient numbers from the British Open to make up a National Team the organisers reserve the right to draw dogs from the Novice or Starters Cup Competitions.
- Competitors who have qualified for the British Team for the FCI World Agility Championships will also be invited to enter as the GB World Championship Teams.
- Teams will consist of the first, second and third dogs (Team 1) and fourth, fifth and sixth placed dogs (Team 2) from each Country in the British Open Cumulative results held on Friday.
The Kennel Club Novice Cup
(Qualifying rounds on Friday with the final on Saturday)
- This class will be open to dogs that are eligible for British Grades 3, 4 or 5 (Graduate, Novice or Intermediate) on 20 June 2008, and EITHER have 50 or more Agility Warrant points gained between 1 July 2007 and 20 June 2008 OR have had a tenth place or above in a British Grade 3, 4 or 5 class (or an equivalent overseas class) between 1 July 2007 and 20 June 2008. Agility Record Books should be available for inspection, if required, at the show.
- All dogs will complete a jumping and an agility course, with points gained from each round.
- The top 30 Large dogs, 15 Medium dogs and 15 Small dogs from the cumulative result of both rounds will be invited to compete in the Kennel Club Novice Cup ‘Final’ on Saturday.
Qualification for Crufts
The top 8 Large dogs, 4 Medium dogs and 4 Small dogs from the final round of the Kennel Club Novice Cup will be invited to compete at Crufts 2009. If there are not enough dogs in the Final the organisers reserve the right to invite dogs from the cumulative class result.
The Kennel Club Starters Cup.
(Qualifying rounds on Friday with the final on Saturday)
- This class will be open to dogs that are eligible for Grade 1 or 2 on 18 June 2008, and EITHER have 50 or more Agility Warrant points gained between the 1 July 2007 and the 18 June 2008, OR have had a tenth place or above in a Grade 1 or 2 class (or an equivalent overseas class) between 1 July 2007 and 18 June 2008. (See Definition of Classes on page 13). Agility Record Books must be available for inspection, at the show.
- All dogs will complete a jumping and an agility course, with points gained from each round.
- The top 30 Large dogs, 15 Medium dogs and 15 Small dogs from the cumulative result of both rounds will be invited to compete in the Kennel Club Starters Cup ’Final’ on Saturday.
Qualification for Crufts
The top 8 Large dogs, 4 Medium dogs and 4 Small dogs from the Final round of the Kennel Club Starters Cup will be invited to compete at Crufts 2009. If there are not enough dogs in the final the organisers reserve the right to invite dogs from the cumulative class result.
The Kennel Club International Young Handler of the Year
(Qualifying rounds on Saturday with the final on Sunday)
1. These classes will be open to all dogs handled by a young handler, in the following age groups:
Under 12 (Handlers 6 years and over, but under 12 on the 9th August 2008)
Large Dogs, Medium Dogs and Small Dogs
12 years and over (Handlers 12 years and over, but under 18 on 9th August 2008)
Large Dogs, Medium Dogs and Small dogs
2. All dogs will complete a jumping and an agility course, with points gained from each round.
3. The top 5 large dogs, 3 Medium Dogs and 3 Small dogs from the cumulative result of both rounds, plus the top dog in each height category based overseas, will be invited to compete in the Kennel Club International Agility Dog of the Year Finals on Sunday.
4. Finalists of all sizes of dogs will compete against each other for the title of the Kennel Club International Young Handler of the Year Under 12 or 12 years and over.
The Young Kennel Club (YKC) Agility Dog of the Year.
(Qualifier for Crufts)
1. This class is open to all YKC members, handling a Kennel Club Registered dog, or a member of an overseas Kennel Club Junior Handler organisation handling a dog registered with that Kennel Club.
2. There are six classes divided by age and size of dog as listed below:
- Under 12 (Handlers 6 years and over, but not including 12th birthday)
- Large Dogs, Medium Dogs, Small Dogs
- 12 and over (Handlers 12 years and over, but not including 18th birthday)
- Large Dogs, Medium Dogs, Small Dogs
3. At the qualifier, the 1st and 2nd place from each subdivision will qualify, provided there are at least six dogs entered into the division. If there are fewer than six dogs in the division, only the 1st place will qualify.
4. Only one dog per handler may compete in the Crufts semi final. If a handler has qualified more than one dog they will have to choose which dog to run. The next placed dog in that class would then be offered the place.
5. The semi final will be held in the YKC ring at Crufts. Handlers / Dogs placed first to third in a class at the semi final, will compete in the Final in the Crufts Arena.

Definition of Classes
The following overseas dogs are eligible for British Grade 2 (Starters) classes:
Dogs eligible to compete in Novice in the U.S.A, dogs eligible for Irish Kennel Club Preliminary class and dogs eligible to enter Grade 1 classes under F.C.I. rules (or equivalent). Owners, handlers or dogs previously qualified out of this grade are no longer eligible for Grade 2 under Kennel Club Regulations.
The following overseas dogs are eligible for British Grade 4 (Novice) classes:
Dogs competing in Open or excellent but do not hold a championship title in the U.S.A, dogs eligible for Irish Kennel Club Novice Class and dogs eligible to enter Grade 2 classes under F.C.I. rules (or equivalent).
The following overseas dogs are eligible for British Grade 6 (Senior) Classes:
Dogs holding a Masters or Championship Title in the U.S.A, dogs eligible for Irish Kennel Club Premier classes and dogs eligible to enter Grade 3 classes under F.C.I. rules (or equivalent).
RELEVANT SHOW REGULATIONS
- Dogs entered at Kennel Club Licensed Agility shows must be registered at the Kennel Club in accordance with Kennel Club Regulations for Classification and Registration B. The registration number/authority to compete number will be required for each entry.
- Puppies under 18 months of age on the first day of the show are not eligible to compete at Kennel Club Licensed Agility Shows.
- Not for competition entries will be accepted for dogs aged four calendar months and over. Dogs must be Kennel Club Registered with their details on the entry form.
- The mating of bitches within the precinct of the show is forbidden.
- No bitch in season is allowed to compete.
- All dogs resident outside the UK must be issued with a Kennel Club Authority To Compete number or a Registration number for an Imported Dog before entry to the show/event can be made. All overseas entries without an Authority to Compete number / Imported Dog Registration number will be returned to the exhibitor/competitor.
- There will be no practising in the Ring during or after the Show.
- Puppies under 4 calendar months of age are not permitted at the Show. This includes the Car Parks and Exercise areas.
- Dogs with cropped ears are not permitted to compete at Kennel Club Licensed events.
