YKC Schemes and Awards

You do not need to own your own dog to have fun with the YKC. We have lots of other activities from dog walking to seminars that all members can enjoy.

Careers With Dogs
If you are interested in working with dogs then click on the link above to read various articles will provide you with a great insight into those that work with dogs.

Cinnamon Trust Dog Walking Scheme
The Cinnamon Trust is the specialist national charity for elderly or terminally ill people and their companion animals and through a volunteer service provides practical help with caring for pets when any aspect of the day-to-day care is difficult or impossible for the owner.  YKC members have been given the chance to volunteer as dog walkers so click on the link above to find out more.

Safe and Sound Scheme
The purpose of the Kennel Club Safe And Sound Award Scheme is to promote the safe interaction between children and dogs. The Scheme can be accessed by clicking on the following link www.safeandsoundwithdogs.org.uk

Shaun McAlpine Award
Have you dreamt of working with rescue dogs? Learn the art of grooming? Learn to train your new puppy? Then you could apply for the highest award for members of the Young Kennel Club.

Stewarding
Stewarding is a great way to support the sport and also gives you an opportunity to observe the action close up. It’s a good way to learn some handling techniques, ring procedures, regulations, and the finer points of competition.

YKC ex Member Volunteer Database
The Young Kennel Club is hoping to create a database of names, made up from former Young Kennel Club and Kennel Club Junior Organisation members so that they can be called upon to help at future YKC events. The database aims to detail all members’ individual experience within the dog world so that when the YKC or another club requires people to help at events, they are able to assist and make sure they find the right person for the job. The new database will help to ensure that there will be someone on hand with the right experience and ability in every area.

If you are no longer a YKC member but would still like to help with events and  be included on the database, please print off and complete an application form and send into the YKC office.
