Kennel Club Charitable Trust

Kennel Club Charitable Trust logoOur mission is simple

We are one charity, a dog charity which looks after the health and welfare of all dogs. We make a difference by funding a wide variety of work ranging from supporting research into canine diseases, dog welfare organisations and the promotion of support dogs, all of which give dogs a healthier, happier life.

Founded in 1987, we’ve donated over £4.5 million to support these initiatives and we couldn’t do all our work with the generosity of our donors.

MillieKennel Club Charitable Trust Helps Epsom Canine Rescue

Staffed entirely by volunteers, Epsom Canine Rescue offers a lifeline to stray and unwanted dogs in Surrey. Self funded for the past fifteen years, the organisation has suddenly seen a dramatic rise in the number of dogs needing help, and so the Kennel Club Charitable Trust has stepped in to provide a helping hand by awarding them £4,000 to help them continue their vital work.

Epsom Canine Rescue rescues and re-homes unwanted, neglected and stray dogs, undertaking veterinary treatment, neutering, microchipping, training and behavioural support where necessary.

Nicola Weeks-Taylor from Epsom Canine Rescue commented: “Unfortunately there has been a huge increase in the number of dogs coming to us. We believe they are victims of the current state of the economy and the rise in the trend for so-called status dogs.

“We are extremely grateful to the Kennel Club Charitable Trust for their donation and we hope to raise much more to help current and future rescue dogs. We have a number of fundraising events planned for 2010, including recently being granted a licence to operate online auctions and raffles. We are optimistic about the future but will still rely on grants from organisations such as the Kennel Club Charitable Trust and the public.”

Mike Townsend, Chairman of Trustees at the Kennel Club Charitable Trust commented: “It is a great feeling to be able to support organisations such as Epsom Canine Rescue. The charity is vital in the local community and with our support can continue to carry out its much needed good work.”
