Kennel Club Requirements for Breed Shows

Licence

  • All show dates must be applied for either in writing on club headed paper or by completing a Show Date Application Form, which is sent out to all Registered Societies in June (i.e. a year and a half in advance of the show year in question), and available below as a download.
  • On receipt of the request at the Kennel Club, a pre printed licence application form will be produced and forwarded to the Secretary, subject to confirmation of the show.
  • The completed licence application form must be submitted to the Kennel Club 6 months prior to the date of the show.
  • The licence must be displayed at the show.

Schedule

All Schedules must conform to the Kennel Club specimens which can be downloaded here.

Championship Show

  • Two copies of the Show Schedule must be sent to the Kennel Club once published, received no later than 3 months prior to the show date.

Open & Limited Shows

  • Two copies of the Show Schedule must be with the Kennel Club 1 month prior to the show date.

Catalogue

  • All marked catalogues should be submitted to the Kennel Club within 14 days of the show.  

Judges

Championship

  • Nomination forms must be with the Kennel Club 12 months prior to the date of the show.  
  • For first time appointments the nomination should be accompanied by a completed Judges Questionnaire. Secretaries must ensure all questionnaires include mandatory information including Kennel Club Seminars and Assessments.

Open & Limited Shows

  • The Kennel Club does not approve Open and Limited shows judging appointments. However the Show Committee must be satisfied that the person is qualified in accordance with Kennel Club F Regulations.

  • Invitations to judge must include a declaration signed by the judge, stating they are so qualified.

Insurance

Society Committees must ensure that they have adequate cover for all the Society’s activities. A current Public Liability Insurance document must be clearly displayed at all Kennel club licensed shows.

Risk Assessment

It is the responsibility of the Organiser to address matters concerning health and safety, and fire prevention at all licensed Kennel Club shows.

Additional Class Fee and Entry Analysis Form

This form, together with the marked catalogue and the additional class fee (if applicable), must be forwarded to the Canine Activities Department within 14 days of the Show by General Canine Societies (including Group Societies) and Affiliated Societies. The form can be downloaded here.
