Holidays with your dog

Golden Retriver puppyTaking your pet on holiday with you now is not as problematic as it used to be.  However, it is suggested that before you start to plan your trip, you should first consider taking the Good Citizen Dog Scheme test and so ensuring that you and your pet are socially acceptable wherever you may go.

Petlog
Remember to get your pet microchipped, then registered with Petlog Premium and if it already is, then ensure their details are updated whenever you go away.  It is also worthwhile updating your pet’s ID tag with your holiday contact details and/or mobile phone number.

Holiday checklist
Here is a useful checklist to consider if taking your dog on holiday:

  • Telephone hotel to check that they still accept dogs.
  • Ask if dogs are allowed in the room.
  • What other areas of the facility do dogs have access to?
  • Is there a park nearby?
  • Take any bedding with you for the room.
  • Check that there are no extra charges.
