The Kennel Club registers over 200,000 pedigree dogs every year. Crossbreeds are also eligible for registration with the Activity Register and the Companion Dog Register.

Breed Register (pedigree)

The Kennel Club's Dog registration system is a simple record of a puppy's birth. It is open to pedigree breeds which are currently recognised by the Kennel Club and provided both parents are of the same breed and already registered. • A KC registered pedigree dog will display the characteristics of the breed, in both looks and temperament.
• You can purchase a pedigree certificate for your dog - a unique record detailing your dogs family tree.
• You can take part in many dog shows and dog events throughout the country.

It is vital that owners register dogs in their own name as soon as possible so that the correct details are stored on the Kennel Club database and to be able to show or breed from your dog.

Activity Register (pedigree and crossbreed)

Any dog on this register may compete in Agility, Flyball, Heelwork to Music, Obedience, and Working Trials competitions licensed by the Kennel Club. The Dog must be registered in the owners name to be able to take part in these activities.

The only register for dog lovers, it doesn’t matter if your dog is a pedigree or a crossbreed. Sign up and take part in special Companion Dog Club classes at Companion Dog Shows taking place around the country.
