Attention All Scheme Enthusiasts

Crufts - NEC Birmingham - Friday 11th and Sunday 13th March 2011

At Crufts 2011, the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme will be conducting a display in the Good Citizen Dog Scheme Ring on Friday11th and Sunday 13th March 2011. The display team will require the assistance of 9 handlers and dogs plus four assistants (without dogs). 

Those wishing to participate in the team will be required to attend a selection meeting on  Sunday 30th January 2011 at Rudgewick Village Hall, Bucks Green West, West Sussex RH12 3JJ from 1.30pm-5.30pm.

If selected you will be required to attend another three practice sessions on Sunday 13th February, Sunday 20th February and Sunday 27th February 2011.

This display will feature all aspects of the Silver Award and will require dogs that have passed their Silver Award but are also able to work reliably in busy, stressful environments around lots of other dogs. Within the display there are likely to be exercises which include multiple dogs being active and exercises where the dogs will be worked off lead. Dogs must also be content to walk closely with other dogs.

As this is a Kennel Club Licensed event, all dogs participating in the displays must be over 12 calendar months of age. Furthermore, all dogs attending must possess a sound temperament with people and other dogs.

Anyone participating in the display will be allocated one free entrance pass for themselves and their dog and an additional pass to bring a visitor for the two specified days.  A car park ticket  for each of the specified days will also be provided.

For those who wish to attend Crufts on Friday 11th and Sunday 13th March 2011.

Please bring with you the following items as these will be needed during the meeting:

• Dog toy or play article

Dogs must have achieved a pass certificate in the Silver Award level in order to take part. All dogs attending should have a sound temperament with people and other dogs in an excitable environment and be able to perform all exercises featured in the Silver award to a good standard. Dogs should also be able to work reliably off lead.

Dogs and handlers chosen to participate in the team must not be involved in any other activity at Crufts on Friday 11th and Sunday 13th March 2011.

If you are chosen to participate in the team, you will be required to attend four additional training meetings as follows:

• 2nd Rehearsal  Sunday 13th February 2011 
• 3rd Rehearsal  Sunday 20th February 2011 
• 4th Rehearsal  Sunday 27th February 2011

Tea & Coffee will be available on the day.
