Accredited Breeder Scheme (ABS) Development 2008
As part of its programme of development, the Accredited Breeder Scheme is designed to be tailored to best suit the needs of individual breeds. Breed clubs and interested individuals are invited, on an ongoing basis, to communicate with the Kennel Club and suggest refinements and changes to the scheme.
As a result of this continual communication, changes relating to the health and suitability of breeding stock of the breeds listed below have been made to the ABS Breed-Specific Requirements (including health screening) and Recommendations for 2008:
Australian Shepherd – Hip scoring and eye testing are now required
Basenji – Eye testing is now recommended
Boston Terrier – Eye testing and a DNA test for juvenile hereditary cataract are now required
Bull Terrier – BAER testing, breed club heart testing and kidney testing are now recommended

The full list is also now available on the Kennel Club’s website at the following link; http://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/download/1100/abshealthreqs.pdf
