New To Canicross?

Canicross can become a way of life for you and your four legged friend! Within a couple of weeks you will find that a mile turns into two miles and so on. To take part in Canicross you do not need experience in running, you could start off doing interval training and gradually building this into a run.

The fun part about Canicross is that it appeals to everyone! It does not matter what fitness level you have, as you will notice improvements after a matter of days. It also opens the door to making new friends for both you and your dog. And provides time to create a special bond with your dog.

The formal requirements for competing in a Kennel Club licensed Canicross competition are quite simple:

  • Your dog must be registered with the Kennel Club (on either the Breed Register or the Activity Register).
  • Competitors taking part in any Kennel Club licensed event must familiarise themselves with the Kennel Club Rules and Regulations beforehand. The Canicross Regulations are available to download from the Kennel Club website.
  • Dogs can only start competing at the age of 12 months.

Joining a Club

Joining a local club can be motivational and fun for both you and your dog. Feel like you are part of a team and meeting like-minded people can motivate you to be the best you and your dog can be. There are a number of training clubs across the country, many of which can be located via the Kennel Club's Find a Club tool.
